It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.

Links and More Links

Cycling links (in no particular order):

The [w] will open the link in a separate window

Trek bicycles [w]
Trek is a company that does a lot of leading edge stuff. They make some pretty decent bikes (I own 2). Want the bike that Lance Armstrong won 7 Tour De France on? Trek will be happy to build you a copy.

Cervello Bicycles [w]
Cutting edge, high performance bikes. Raced by Team CSC in the Tour De France.

Specialized [w]
Another great bike company. Specialized has some killer mountain bike designs, as well as some sweet road bikes. Being a bit shorter in the top tube means that women usually get a good fit from Specialized bikes. (P.S. I want an FSR!)

Mavic [w]
These people make the absolute best wheels in cycling, hands down. I have gotten to the point where I refuse to ride anything but Mavic wheels. Great products at great prices, plus solid support. What more could you ask for?

Shimano [w]
The company everyone loves to hate. Shimano has been responsible for a lot of cutting edge improvements in cycling. Personally, I think they need to get a handle on prices.

Bell [w]
Great looking and great fitting (at least for this head) helmets that keep you safe and your head cool.

All American Bicycles [w]
A great local shop that carries all the top brands. Trek Lemond, Cervello, Serotta. Want a custom fitting done? This is the place.

The Bicycle Place [w]
This was a local shop in my area, and *the* place to go if you wanted the right bike for you. It's a pity that high rent drove them out of key locations.

Performance Bike Shop [w]
If you're looking for a wide selection and a competitive price, look no further. The 100% satisfaction guarantee doesn't hurt either.

Smartfuel [w]
Need something to eat before, during, or after your next workout? Smartfuel provides some of the best energy food products on the market, and they have a great staff too. They also provided support at a moment's notice at the 1998 Tour DeToona women's race.

HammerGel [w]
Energy bars aren't for everyone. That's why there's HammerGel! Unlike most gels on the market, HammerGel is 100% complex carbos. I've tried dozens of food products for use during cycling, and so far, this stuff is hands down the best (and also the least expensive).

Mary Wodecki's page [w]
Mary (and her husband Gary) are very close friends of mine. They both live in Pennsylvania and are employed by Penn State University. Mary races bicycles and is a horticulturist, so she can tell you about any plant you would like to know about. Gary is, well... Gary.

YouTrek travel site [w]
This page is owned and maintained by a very nice gentleman named Gordon. An excellent place to find the lowdown *before* you head out on your next vacation. Definitely worth a visit!

The Write Connection [w]
An excellent Star Trek Fanfic page run by Seema. Also some essays and a bit of poetry.

Lindt chocolate [w]
About the only thing as good as chicken wings is chocolate, and about the best chocolate you can find in the states is Lindt chocolate. If you want creamy chocolate that melts in your mouth, this is for you!

Maryland Renaissance Festival [w]
Maryland has the 2nd largest rennfest in the country (as of the time of this writing). It's great fun and good food for everyone. Take a trip back in time and pay it a visit if you're in the area between August and November.

Digital Blasphemy [w]
The *coolest* wallpaper on the web. A free section is offered, as well as membership options for the really cool stuff.

Humour

User Friendly [w]
A hillarious comic strip for us tech geeks, with a strong bias toward Unix lovers.

The Onion [w]
A funny "news" page. Whenever I think I've seen it all, these guys just come up with something else. Perfect for passing those long, boring days behind the desk.
